Ant Setup Steps

Apache Ant is a open source Apache project under Apache Software Licence. Ant is an automating software build tool written in java and needs java platform to run, It helps us to build and manage the dependency of a java project by using a build.xml file.

You can also use the Apache User guide for ANT.

Let’s quickly setup Ant in our machine. Ant is also available as a plugin with most of the famous IDE like eclipse, netbeans etc

ANT installation steps:

  1. Download Ant from Apache (download link I found when writing this article) download the latest release.

  2. Unzip the archive file and copy the path for ant/bin directory.

  3. Now we will set the classpath to our system class_path. So that we will able to run Ant from our system console.

Windows :

  1. Control Panel → System → Advanced system settings

  2. Click on the Environment Variables, and choose the PATH variable under system variable and add a semicolon “;” after the Variable Value and then paste your ant/bin directory path. press OK to confirm.

  3. Open CMD and type

Mac/Linux OS:

a. Open the bash_profile file from your home directory(if you don’t have, just go ahead and create a new file with same name)

b. Add the below line in the file.

c. Save and close the editor.

d. Open the Terminal, and run
